Our Story

I once was a girl who travelled the world by hitching a ride on any aircraft departing, the only condition ..... a uniform. The journeys I took and the places I visited are to this day the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had. 

Imagine.... breakfast in Paris and dinner in South east Asia! Yes, I was living the dream........ Sadly, that all came to an end after the company had to cut costs and downsize due to a worldwide pandemic.

After many amazing journeys around the world I discovered my heart lie in Indonesia, a place where warmth and joy come naturally. On one trip to Indonesia, I had been exploring a local market where I discovered the concept of coconut shell handicrafts. Craftsmen all around me where creating coconut souvenirs to sell to tourists.

A broken coconut, naturally takes the shape of a bowl and my mind wandered. What creations can be made in this naturally shaped coconut bowl.

After the flesh has been removed from the coconut shell I learnt through research, that billions of these shells were going to waste every year. As a bi-product of the thriving coconut industry, coconut shells have traditionally been burned or discarded as landfill. 

But such beauty and craftsmanship I had witnessed. As I stand there, with the smell of coconuts around me, the moisture on my skin from the tropical heat, I wondered. What are the possibilities from this humble coconut?

I decided to take some coconut bowls home with me and create tasty smoothie bowls and noodle dishes in the coconut shell. After posting the coconut bowls on my Instagram page, I realised how much interest the world had in coconut bowls and helping the world to become more sustainable.

After showcasing my coconut bowls at a local event, I made my first sale. A local restaurant creating smoothie bowls in the area had fallen in love with this coconut delight as much as I had.

Now, instead of these bowls making their way to a fire-pit and destroying our planet, our team rescues them from farmers all over the world. We cut, sand and polish these coconut shells into beautiful coconut bowls that are food safe, reusable and can last a lifetime. We think they’re the perfect eco-friendly and sustainable addition to any kitchen.

Every coconut bowl and product is unique, with its own shape, size and marking. They’re one in a billion, just like you. This means that nobody else in the world will have a coconut bowl just like yours. Cool? We think so!
